Lukas Schaugg

International Law Analyst

Lukas Schaugg is an International Law Analyst with IISD's Economic Law and Policy program. He currently works on investment law and policy and is based in Paris, France. Lukas advises developing country governments and regional bodies on international investment treaties, national investment laws, investment contracts and investor-state dispute settlement. He closely follows ongoing investment policy reform processes at UNCITRAL and the modernization of the Energy Charter Treaty.

Before joining IISD, Lukas worked as a Deputy Counsel at the International Chamber of Commerce administering arbitration proceedings in the mining, energy, infrastructure, and construction sectors. Lukas has also worked in policy research at the EU Delegation to the United Nations office in Geneva and he began his career as a trade law advisor in the private sector. Besides his work for IISD, Lukas is a PhD-researcher in investment law at Osgoode Hall Law School, Toronto, Canada.
