Rethinking Incentives for Sustainable Investment in Lao PDR
A high-level capacity-building workshop for government officials in Lao PDR.
This IISD workshop will seek to build government capacity on the design and use of tax incentives as an investment promotion tool. It will provide an opportunity for inter-ministerial dialogue on the potential reforms to the laws governing investment and granting incentives in the country.
During this mission to Laos PDR, IISD will also explore the potential scope of a long-term technical assistance program for the country. The program would focus on the design and use of tax incentives as well as reforming broader legal frameworks for sustainable investment, including in priority sectors such as agriculture, mining, and tourism. This will entail meetings with various government ministries during the week of the workshop.
