Susan Sekirime
Senior Policy Advisor
Susan is a Senior Policy Advisor with IISD’s Resilience Program. Her work currently focuses on the Climate Adaptation and Protected Areas (CAPA) Initiative.
She has over eight years of experience leading monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) efforts for complex multi-year international development programs in Africa, Asia and South America, funded by institutional donors including Global Affairs Canada, the United States Agency for International Development, the European Union and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
Susan has also led efforts to revamp MEL efforts at the African Wildlife Foundation in Kenya, including designing an institutional MEL system, and has conducted research into the feasibility, design and applicability of model results chains as tools for aiding conservation managers in identifying critical M&E needs for their projects as a consultant with UN Environment’s World Monitoring Conservation Centre in Cambridge, United Kingdom.
She holds a Master of Philosophy in conservation leadership from the University of Cambridge, a Master of Science in development evaluation and management from the University of Antwerp, and is a candidate for the Level III Certificate in leadership and management with City and Guilds London.
